It’s been a good ride since May 18, 2001, when I first published Bitts & Bytes. Bitt by Bitt and Byte by Byte our circulation has grown to about 1,000 official subscribers plus many who choose to visit the site to read each issue.
It has been on my mind for a long time that I am spread too thin and, thus, really am not able to do justice to everything in which I am involved. In other words, I have too much on my plate and some things are being neglected. On top of that I have just released a new book on self-publishing and there are promotion chores to do. It has nothing to do with my wife, who has continued to recover from her stroke in early August. We are pretty much as before but at a slower pace. The pace of our book-publishing activities has increased, however, and cannot be neglected. So the quickest way to say it is, “The ride is over.” This represents the last official issue of B&B. I want to thank all those who have hung in there with me. I am going to make one business exception. If new books are introduced on my web site, www.littleriverbooks.com, I am going to send a B&B short form announcing them. Those who do not wish to get these announcements can simply unsubscribe at the bottom of this page and it will be done automatically. The only change in the web site will be that no letter will be offered. The five plus years of B&B archives will remain on the site and available for research. We will still continue to post new boat pictures each week. Our total is now above 2,400. Contributors can continue to send them just as they have before. The message board, free classifieds, U.S. Inland Waterways Site Ring, recipes, marine links, etc., will continue as before. People who have questions can still contact me, and I will put them in touch with those who I believe can answer their questions. Kathy Flippo’s Tow Talkin’ column will still appear on the web site weekly. Warm regards, Jack Simpson Little River Books jacksimpson@littleriverbooks.com |
