Beyond The Bridges
Rediscovering America's Waterways
- by Jerry M. Hay

There is much more to rivers than simply moving water. Rivers are rich in history and legends. They continue to be a valuable resource and an awesome power. Jerry Hay has many years of personal experience traveling America’s rivers. From canoes to steamboats and from small creeks to giant rivers, he has firsthand knowledge of what life is like beyond the bridges. Many of his own fascinating stories are featured in the book. Even chapters with practical and historical information have his own views and adventures as examples. The author doesn’t mind laughing at himself, and the reader will be laughing too, while enjoying some of the misadventures Hay has had. Jerry grew up in the Wabash River city of Terre Haute, Indiana. That is where his river adventures began. He has since traveled nearly every major river in the U.S. Jerry still lives in Indiana and continues to travel rivers. He has been Riverlorian for the Delta Queen Steamboat Company and has shared his river experience with many passengers aboard the steamboats during river cruises on many U.S. rivers. Other books by Hay include Wabash River Guide Book, White River Guide Book, and A Goose Named Gilligan.
