The Mariner’s Guide to the Inland and International Rules is designed primarily for working mariners - be they on ship, towboat, tug, fishing boat, or recreational craft. It follows the organization of the Inland Navigation Rules as they are published in the United States Code. The format is designed to give the background for the Rules, their meaning and purpose, and how the courts have interpreted their applicability - sometimes in conflict with one another. Each chapter concludes with questions intended to generate a desire for the mariner to go back and review the Rules on a continuing basis.
