The Board of Directors, crewmembers and volunteers at HSPS are all like-minded people interested in the preservation of authentic/vintage sternwheel vessels, including the history and artifacts of these vessels. Due to Coast Guard restrictions, the BARBARA H cannot be "hired" for public river cruises, however, it can be hired as a dockside attraction vessel. We can offer guided or self-guided tours of this authentic sternwheel towboat. Visitors can enjoy seeing and touching vintage equipment that was used on the inland rivers 80 years ago. Groups of 12 people can follow our tour guides on 15-minute tours of the vessel's various areas. Self-guided tours allow visitors to inspect the vessel at their own pace. As the oldest sternwheel towboat in operation, and a National Historic Landmark, the BARBARA H makes an excellent venue for rivertown festivals, historical society meetings, weddings and similar events.
