This book is filled with really good pictures of both cruise-boat related activities but also of tows and commercial navigation-related pictures. It should be of interest to river watchers up and down the waterway. Segment by segment, Timothy Remus takes us through his journey over the 1,500 miles. The first week takes the crew down the Mississippi as far as Hannibal, Mo. By the end of the second week, the Horace Bixby has reached Cairo, Ill., and the mouth of the Ohio River, etc. Remus includes in this book vast amounts of materials about waterways and the Corps’ plans for upgrading it. He tells us about locking, and provides an ongoing picture story of the entire voyage of the Horace Bixby. Among the illustrations are maps and picturesque views of marinas and riverbank scenes along the way. It is a very good book for the price.
