  • Virginia (#49-20) at Owensboro (Ky.) River Sand & Gravel Co. on the Ohio River on September 21, 1975. Measuring 111 by 26 feet, she was built in 1940 for Cumberland River Sand & Gravel Co. by Nashville Bridge Co., with 1,600 hp. single screw. She was transferred to Ingram Materials Co. in Nashville, Tenn., in 1962. Subsequently sold in 1966 to River Sand & Stone Co., Evansville, Ind.; in 1968 to Owensboro River Sand & Gravel Co.; in 1978 to Gerard Construction Co., Evansville; and in 1979 to River Towing, Inc., Pittsburgh, Pa., and renamed Nanci M in 1981. She was sold again in 1985 to River Salvage Co., Pittsburgh, and eventually was dismantled in 1986. Copyright Capt. Jeffrey L. Yates.
