Thanks to Dorothy Heckmann Shrader, much of the colorful history associated with the steamboat era of the lower Missouri and its tributaries has been preserved. The stories Steamboat Bill wrote convey a sense of the danger, excitement, allure, raucousness and hilarity associated with the rivers and their people, wrote James W.
